Battery Percent still does not Display

I have tried the following:

Closeing all programs and then putting MacBook to Sleep

Restart

Shutdown > Remove Battery > Hold Power button for 5 secs > Reinsert Battery > Power on

Shutdown > Remove Battery > Hold Power button for 5 secs > Reinsert Battery > Connect MagSafe > Power on

My MacBook still says "Not Charging", even when the MagSafe is connected. It will not show the Battery %, unless I open up the Energy Saver window. Any other thoughts how I can get the % to display again?

I've tried with two different batteries, one 4 years old and one brand new (purchased yesterday).
