Q: lcd problems

Need help,

I have a MacBook Pro 17 inch, early 2009 I bought from new. I just acquired today gray vertical bar with series of lines on the right hand side of my screen approximately 1 1/2 inches wide from the the top to botton of the screen. Can anybody help to resolve this problem.
