Download from Apple Store Question re play back

Second Generation Apple TV. all up to date software.

Rented movie from Apple TV then selected "download and watch later" option. Later came and we wanted to watch the movie and to our disappointment, when we selected play, THEN the download started, only Then, not earlier. We live in a remote area with a slowish internet connection compared to metropolitan areas, so we plan ahead to have movies our grandchildren want to watch when they visit. Had to abandon the entire idea since we didn't have 2 hours to wait for the movie to download.

How do we actually get the Apple TV from the Apple Store to "Download and Watch later"?

If you turn the Apple TV off or use it to do something else, anything downoaded will be lost.

If you have a slow internet connection, the best plan is to rent from a computer where the download won't be lost and can be streamed to the Apple TV at any time once fully downloaded.
