Apparently so.

Amazing thing, the internet...
According to the fitbit homepage, yes:

Magical, ain't it? 😉
Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately the IPad's do not have a USB port to synch info. Is there a way around this? I dont think the original IPad has the proper operating system.
According to the website, It appears you can sync wirelessly to mobile devices like the iPad.
I would read the user guide for it to learn how to do it.

Syncing to an iOS device
Your One can sync directly to supported iOS devices via Bluetooth 4.0. To see if your
iOS device is compatible with your Fitbit One, go to http://www.fitbit.com/devices.
Also iOS is a proper Operating System. Its just different to that of a computer.
And yet the fitbit site seems to think it works with quite a few iDevices. Maybe they are mistaken.
Thanks, The wireless sync also plugs into a USB port, go figure. Apple does make an adapter to create a USB port for IPads. Th FitBit is a gift for friend who has an IPad so I am unable to try it myself.
The part that plugs into a USB port is the wireless reciever for a computer. On a iPhone or iPad the connection is direct as they already have the necessarry hardware to connect.
That is the little usb connector is not needed on an iPhone or iPad. Its a direct Bluetooth pairing.
FitBit app does NOT work with iPad Air 3. I have one and confirmed with FitBit That it is incompatible With the new iPad Air. This makes me wonder whether FitBit will eventually be incompatible with iPhones too. I am currently looking for a tracker that will work with Apple's new health app. FitBit doesn't work with that either.

Considering there is no such thing as an iPad Air 3, its not surprising the Fitbit does not work with it.
FitBits website states it is compatible for syncing with an iPad Air 2

Whether it really is or not, would be a question for Fitbit.
As to compatible trackers for the Health App:

With a third party app, you can sync FitBit data to Health. I use SyncSolver but I'm sure there are others.

That's very strange, because it works with my iPad Air 2. It connects using BlueTooth LE (aka BlueTooth 4). With the Fitbit app installed on my iPad, I go to Settings in the Fitbit app and it finds my Fitbit easily.
It's always possible that Fitbit has deliberately disabled this feature, as Fitbit has announced that they consider Apple a competitor and are under no obligation to support Apple products.
