How can I recover my data from time capsule?

Is it possible by means of FTP to replace the existing content by the back up data on the time capsule? Had to repartition my hard disc. Now I cannot access my backup. I am unable to reach my data on the time machine. But I can see the file of 75 GB on my finder under release on the left side. In FTP I tried to move the old content of my hard disc and replace it by the time machine icon. The response was that it cannot scan the icon. What can I do?
