Does Macbook Air 2010 have a ethernet port?

So I have a Macbook Air 2010 11in. I have recently bought a thunderbolt to gigabit adapter which is a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter. I have put it in the slot that fits and I plugged in my ethernet cable. Ethernet is not showing up. I run OS X 10.9 so there are no seperate drivers or software to install onto my mac. I know that the USB to Ethernet works on my Mac but thats to slow for the use I need. Is there any solution to make this work? Is there even a thunderbolt slot for my mac?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9), I am have a 2010 MACBOOK AIR

Here is the tech spec for your machine:

That port you have that looks like a Thunderbolt slot is not a Thunderbolt slot! As the spec points out, what you actually have is a Mini Display port - which was Thunderbolt's predecessor. So while the port contains video support, it cannot handle a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.

You must use the USB adapter with that particular machine.
