Digital Signage Software

I'm investigating producing content for digital signs. Does anyone have experience in this area and have a software product they can recommend?

Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I need to integrate a video source, with an HTML source, and pull data from a database. It's similar to what InDesign or Dreamweaver or Keynote might do, but I've seen specialized applications available for Windows (InfoCaster at infocaster.tv is one) and I'm hoping to find an OS X application.

As for resolution: 1920x1080 vertically oriented. (Which InfoCaster doesn't fully support.)

Digital signage has exploded into a huge industry. There were dozens of product booths at NAB using all kinds of elaborate and proprietary technologies. The displays can over-resolve HD video so it is a very cool delivery method but it requires new ways of designing content and pushing pixels to the display systems. And lots of D.S. displays are vertical or segmented. Rmemeber "video walls?" Digital signage makes that stuff look like pointy sticks and clay tablets.

Put digital signage into google. There are even trade magazines for this industry.

Hope you find what you need.

I am involved in a digital signage company and we are using the Scala software. Most DS systems are little more than glorified DVD players, but scala allows us to run 720p content and edit the content remotely.

It is really a great solution for large scale digital signage applications.

All that to say, I ran across your post while looking for a way to suggest that apple make a digital signage app. They have the best content creation software available. If they could make an app that i could drop motion and livetype projects into, i would certainly buy it.

I'll second SCALA. One thing that is nice is that you don't have to take the system off-line to update the pages. it can be done from another computer. you can also manage several players from one computer.

We have one for our TV channel, it runs 24/7 and we reboot it every few weeks for a safe measure (you can set it to automatically reboot too).

The system supports 4x3, 16x9, horizontal as well as vertical. We do full screen video playback on it (short clips).
