activate ipad

hi guys and girls, I would like to ask a few simple questions regarding an IPad Mini I want to buy on EBay.

the thing is like this: the ipad mini is currently Locked with the next message : "This ipad is currently linked to an apple ID, sign in with the apple ID that was used to set up this ipad "

the auction its for "parts or not working", obviously the ipad its "working", what I want to know is if I can "unlock-unlink" the ipad on the current state to a working ipad if I put the ipad on recovery mode and then do a full reset-resintall?

the ipad its from a whole reseller of used second hand ipads, but its a good price as it is the ipad right now on eBay

so do you think I can get the ipad working again doing the recovery reinstall procedure ?

With iOS 7, Find My iPhone includes a new feature called Activation Lock, which makes it difficult for anyone to use or sell stolen iPad.

With Activation Lock, the Apple ID and password of original owner is required to:

1. Turn off Find My iPhone on device

2. Erase device

3. Reactivate and use device

i think its ios 7.xx on the pictures on the listing

maybe if the ios its under 7 can i unlock it ?, look at the picture please, maybe im wrong about the ios version

As the photo shows, you have to sign in with n*****@yahoo.com, which is the Apple ID that the iPad is currently linked to. If that is not your Apple ID, then you need to contact the person who owned that Apple ID when the iPad was last linked.

That's the purpose of Activation Lock - to avoid theft or non-permitted unlocking of the device.

im not trying to unlock it (actually i do) but i want to erase everything so i can use it with my own stuff, i didnt steal it nor i know the person who owned the Ipad, i just wanted to buy it from ebay, but if i cant unlock it then i wont buy it, i dont need a brick on my desk.

It's great that you discovered this before you bought it!

I'm really glad you're not out the money to end up with a brick. We've certainly seen posts out here in the forum from folks who didn't prepare themselves as well as you did.

it seems like that n.....@yahoo must have owned alot of computers because i've seen that on a few ipads?yeah i bought an ipad that has that too, it would be nice if i could get some information that would help maybe even the cops number to have him take it , it's not doing me any good any way , sorry just tiered
