iTunes movies from iPad Air cannot play on Samsung TV (HDMI)

With my previous iPad, I could download movies from iTunes onto it, then hook it up to playback on a larger Samsung TV. I tried this with my new iPad Air, but it says that the movie can't be played on an unauthorized device (I guess it's pointing the finger at the Samsung TV). I can still view the movie on the iPad Air.

Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

Hi, huioliver492ka.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

To view HD video on an external display, the display must have a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI) and also support HDCP. If the TV is HDCP compliant, then the issue would be related to the connect between the iPad and the TV. I would recommend trying with one of the approved digital connectors. The best option would be to purchase an Apple Lighting Digital AV Adapter or look into and Apple TV. Make sure to avoid using any third party adapters as most are not HDCP compliant. Also, try closing all applications open in multitasking, power cycling the devices and reseat the connectors.
