Q: how to receive alerts for new books published by an author

When I look on my iTunes account and go to My Alerts. There doesn't seem to be a way to add a new author to my alerts.

Same on both my iPad 2 and my MacBook Air.

In the iBooks app on my Mac (OS X 10.10.3), if I go to an author's page I have a 'share' icon towards the top right of the screen

Clicking on that gives me a series of options, one being 'alert me'
