1. Be Aware that the Warranty will only be valid in the USA. So if anything happens to the phone you would have to go back to the USA to get it serviced under warranty.
2. LTE will not work outside of the USA. So you will be limited to 3G services on the phone.
3. If you still want to go ahead with this make sure you buy the Unlocked T-Mobile version directly from an Apple store. Do not buy a phone for any other carrier, or in any carrier store. Only in an Apple Store.
4. The iPhone uses Nano sized sim cards, so make sure the Indian carrier you wish to use the phone with supports iPhones and has Nano Sim cards available for purchase so you can get your service on the phone.

Only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones in the US. If you want an officially unlocked iPhone, you need to go to an Apple store.

Do not purchase anywhere else, or the phone will be carrier locked.

Just remember, if you have any issues with this phone, in India, no one there will help you in any way. You'll have to physically return the phone to the US...you can't mail it to Apple.

They will not deliver it - the online USA Apple store will only deliver to a USA address, and they will require payment form a USA source with a USA billing address. They do not offer any international shipping nor foreign payment options.

You would need to go to an Apple Store in person to buy something.

You must be in the USA to purchase an iPhone from Apple in the USA. They will not ship to another country. You can buy it online for delivery to a US address, or in person at an Apple store. So if you are not planning to come to the US to buy a phone you must have a friend or relative in the US to buy it for you and ship it to you.

Yes, and you will be charged the price in your home country also. But there are no Apple stores in India, only resellers.

If talking about the USA Online Apple Store, under Store Help, payment & pricing, you will see clearly mentioned the following (my bold emphasis):

Just to try to drive the point across.

You cannot buy from the US Apple online store without a credit card that has a billing address in the U.S.A, and you cannot get an item shipped from the American Online store outside of the United States.

No. no Apple Retail Stores. In India there are stores and shops known as "Resellers". Which means they are authorized 3rd party stores not owned by Apple.

According to Apple's web site there are only resellers, no Apple-owned stores. See: http://www.apple.com/in/buy/ If you search for a particular store you will see they are all authorized resellers.
