Bought these at Best Buy, Just got time to connect to Mac Mini, turned on iTunes expecting great joy, nope. I opened every type of system pref, no, mini won't show me anything. No symbol on desktop, or finder, help? I'll continue checking other similar postings, but so far, I haven't been able to make this work.

Check System Preferences/Sound/Output to see if the speakers show up there. If so, select them for output.
As I said, I tried all the pref things, I have no idea why they won't show up, I tried typing them in, tried add hardware, couldn't find that. I restarted my system, plugging the speakers in, then turning them off and on. I'm frustrated. Should be a simple thing. Windows has this down, why doesn't my beloved Apple?
Well, I went out & bought a cheap set of iHome earbuds and they work just fine. So, the speakers are going back to the store. I'll see if I can find some of my old speakers & try them out.
