to print to a printer one needs an interface

on computers that interface is a driver some which are included in the operating system taking up storage

some which the user themselfs install

on ios there is a generic option where printers can support a std common interface called airprint

or they can make an printing app and put it in app store

if the printer maker choose to do non of those things and no 3th option general printing app include the printer as supported one can't print

As Rudger said, the service runs only on particular printers.

However there is a workaround by using a 3rd party software, which emulates such a server.

This software has to run on a computer either mac or pc in you local network - same as the printer.

The printer needs to be installed on this computer.

Now the software emulates the airprint-server and forwards all print-jobs from your ipad or iphone to the printer.

One example: http://www.netputing.com/applications/handyprint-v5/

Try searching the web for airprint server for mac/ pc , whatever applies.
