Q: iPad Mini - Retina Display?

My wife won an iPad Mini at a "Chinese Auction." How do I tell if it is the new model or the one from last year? Santa Claus brought her an iPad Mini last year. She wants it if it's the new model. If it's the older one, Santa's going to give it to our daughter.

You can look up the model number, on the back of the iPad, on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5452

Or if you have the box then that also say which iPad it is on it's label on the bottom of it
