iPhone 5s randomly opening programs and typing by itself

I am having this strange behavior with a new iPhone 5s. It is not jail broken and the OS is current.

Suddenly the phone was launching new programs, typing in Safari's URL entry window and changing prefs in the setting window. It chnaged itself into airplane mode.

I'm just sitting there watching this happen. The phone was plugged into AC power. As I forced quit programs, new ones would launch themselves. I tried to shut down the phone, but I couldn't slide the red ribbon sideways to shut the phone down. Eventually I did. When I rebooted, I couldn't enter my PIN because I would press one button, and another one would depress on the screen. Prees 0 and 4 would be entered.

I brought it in to Apple and a genius made me reset to the original OS with no non-Apple apps. I did, and the behavior returned. I brought it back and they thought that the touch screen was defective. They swapped the phone.

I just uploaded all my 3rd party apps to the new phone. A day later I'm watching a podcast in Safari and suddenly the podcast stops and I see typing in the Safari URL entry window. I see apps opening and I see random typing in random apps. Again, the phone is plugged into AC power.

This is a second phone. I just deleted non-Apple apps and we'll see what happens. So if no viruses exist, and this is only a software bug, one program can open another and start typing?

Has anyone heard of this behavior? Anyone know of any solutions?

Thanks!

Same issue going on here. I thought it was due to Lifeproof Nuud case and I am still not convinced it isnt. Do you have the lifeproof Nuud case? Have you found a resolution for this issue yet?

I have this problem now, received a replacement iPhone 5c and straight out of the box same issue! I was locked out of many of my apps because the phone was typing bye itself so password was entered incorrect. I call AT&T they say it's not their problem Apple has to deal with this issue. Transferred to Apple they say this is AT&T problem they have to deal with this issue. I have been run around since March 28 the date now is April 11.... And both companies claim they have never heard of this phone having this kind of problem. This makes me really mad seeing that the original post is from Dec. 2013 but yet they have not fixed this problem and are currently selling this phone! To say I'm Aggravated is a understatement!!!!!!! I am currently waiting on AT&T to contact me today to see what they are gonna do for me. Apple I guess don't want to bother with me Nigel Bailey was supposed to call me back after I sent the videos of the phone randomly dialing opening apps and I never heard back from him! Now Natalie Powell from Apple has been great, she will be calling me Sunday to make sure AT&T has handled this issue. Hopefully AT&T will handle this issue TODAY for me. I have been with AT&T for 14 years and have never been as mad as I am now! I have been with Apple since the year the iPhone come out. Ready to go back to my old iPhone 4s!!!!

I am having the same issue for last 3 days. Going to Apply store for a solution. I am very frustrated and annoyed. This is my 2nd iphone with similar issue. Not sure why apply is not addressing it. Currently my phone is locked because it automatically typed the wrong password. Not sure what would be the next step

Me too. It started about 2 days ago. I have an apple charger. I have had my iPhone 6 since late December or early January, and never had this problem before. I thought it my be my Otter Box but it does the same thing when I have it out of the case. It is HIGHLY annoying and sometimes I can't access the app I want at all because random things keep showing up or text I do not type starts printing. Are we being hacked?

I've got an Iphone 6 I've had it almost since it came out. I've never had problems before and now it's doing the same thing. It's impossible to text at times or use other apps as it will close them and open random crap. I think its a software issue. I've tried everything and it hasn't fixed it. I've always taken good care of the thing. Now however I just want to smash it with a hammer.

All, did anyone ever solve this? It never happened on my little iPhone4, but I am on my THIRD 5S with the same problem. I have stripped everything and started over more times than I thought can count, changed chargers and cases, spent hours and hours and hours and hours over months (4 hours ONE NIGHT, only to have the entire record lost), and it is still happening. I've walked up to my phone 6 times tonight while it sits on the counter charging, and every time it is doing something different.... Dropping pins, opening and writing gibberish texts, switching into airplane mode, won't open, hit 4 and it types 9zd. And I still owe hundreds of dollars on this piece of junk. Absolutely NO one at Apple believes this and will help. Does anyone have any new ideas at all????

Thanks,

MAry

Hi.

This started happening to my 5s just yesterday afternoon but I noticed it seemed to only happen when I unlocked or used TouchID. I disabled TouchID this morning and I haven't seen it happen at all today and I've used it heavily all day. I also enabled Assistive Touch in case I couldn't use my Home button at all (except for resetting my device) but so far I appear to be able to use the physical Home button.

I still have a minor issue in that when I attempt wake my phone to unlock it I can't swipe so I have to: wake it, lock it again with the power button then wake and the swipe to unlock; minor like I said.

This appears to have worked for me so far so I recommend giving it a try before sinking your device into the nearest pit.

Cheers,

Si
