Italian auto-correct on iOS 7

Dear All,

Since upgrading to iOS 7 (I have iOS 7.0.3 on an iPhone 5), I noticed that the automatic corrector has started to correct my Italian so that

e --> è

ne --> n'è

ce --> c'è

Now, all of these forms exist in Italian and it is ridiculous that, for instance, the conjuction "e" is systematically replaced by the verb "è".

Does anyone know a way to correct this, aside from creating a dummy contact in the address book?
I tried adding "shortcuts" in the dictionary, but to no avail.

This has been driving me crazy (and making people think I cannot spell my own native language!!!)

Thanks for the help
