I just bought two new iphone 5s for my son and I. However now I cannot see his device when going to find my iphone. Before I did not have this issue.

Are you signed into the iCloud account his phone is using when you check Find My iPhone?
No I am not signed in. I did not have to do that when I had my iphone 4
When you go to icloud.com to use Find My iPhone, you have to first sign with an iCloud ID and password. Or, if you use the Find My iPhone app, you also have to sign in with an iCloud ID and password. This has always been the case.
I'm asking if you signed in, either at icloud.com or on the Find My iPhone app, with his ID.
Sorry, still learning. I signed in to Find my iphone on my account. I then can see my IPAD and my phone as well as my husbands phone, just not my sons, which I used to be able to see
Not a problem. Are you all using the same iCloud ID on your devices, or is your son using a different iCloud account with a different ID on his phone?

Onle last question...are you using Find My iPhone on icloud.com or using the Find My iPhone app?
To locate his phone using Find My iPhone you will either need to go to icloud.com and sign in with his iCloud ID and password (not yours), or sign in on the Find My iPhone app with his iCloud ID and password.
Find My iPhone shows devices using the iCloud account that you signed in with. If he is using a different ID, you'll have to sign in with his ID.
