How can I restore the reminding function of Calendar?

It seems that I inadvertantly deinstalled the function that allows Calendar to remind me of events. I used CleanMyMac 2 and deinstalled a function that was said I had not used for over 6 months.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9), Calendar
