Q: I can't install L S 8 upgrade on new computer.

I've just got a new iMac. Am trying to install my LS8 (upgrade from LS7). A dialogue box says: You can't open this application 'Logic Studio.mpkg' because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. What now, please? Thanks.

Logic 8 is not compatible with OS X Mavericks. While - with hacks - you can install it, you will have a black bar on the screen where the SPL used to be. It is not usable. Going to Logic Pro 9 (no longer for sale) or Logic Pro X is your only option on a new computer.

    Thanks for reply Blueberry.

This new iMac is running OS X 10.8.5 and I've been advised to wait until Jan, Feb before downloading Mavericks (when any 'bug' issues should be sorted !!).

Is my L S 8 effectively just a 'thing of the past'?

It seems such a shame not to be able to use a perfectly good programme - and now I have to buy a 3rd version of it . . .

    Thanks again.

10.8.5. should work. But you have to google to find the hack how to install old code onto that machine. It is tricky, I don't remember the exact steps.

Yes, Logic Pro 8 is many many years old and has been superseeded by not one, but two major versions of Logic Pro (9 and X) in the past 4.5 years.

This is madness. Apple people you already have a lot of money and still sucking our savings... My $800 from buying LP8 and upgrading LP9 is gone by the wind cause i need to buy LPX to run on my new macbook pro.

How i wish i used PRO TOOLS...

Jobs leaves his legacy to this money sucker people.
