Time machine in icon bar not moving while backing up

I recently activated a new Time capsule 4th Generation. I have set up all the wireless settings. I have also picked it as my primary backup disk in time machine, at same time deleting previously used disk. I have hit "Backup" button. I have a total of 284 GB to backup, but for almost an hour now it has been stuck on 627 MB and simply will not move from there. I havr attmpted to delete the contents of disk and am now connected via ethernet, but I still do not know what to do. Plus on the status bar at the bottom it will simply say "calculating Time Remaining...." If you guys have any suggestions I would be more than thankgful!!!
