iTunes randomizes my song ratings after syncing with a device.

This isn't a question; I just didn't know how else to submit this awful awful bug. This randomization doesn't happen every time, but even once is bad enough considering it took days to get everything properly rated. I've search online for possible solutions but so far haven't come across any solutions outside of re-installing iTunes (which I did the first time it happened).

Reinstalling iTunes won't fix database errors. I'm not sure why your ratings got adjusted, but if you kept a backup of your library you would be able to restore the pre-problem backup of the iTunes Library.itl file where ratings and play counts are stored.

It sounds like you've probably sorted things out again, but if not then my script ExportImport would allow you to restore an older copy of the database from the Previous iTunes Libraries folder, export the relevant metadata, then switch back to the current library and import the saved data.

Thanks turingtest2. Yes I'm OK with regards to restoring things now. After the first time it happened I started using the Grouping tag as a backup rating. So now whenever it happens again I sort off of Grouping and re-apply the ratings, which is easy to do. I'm mainly posting here in the hopes that it'll get back to the developers, as the who randomization thing is pretty bad.
