Q: Uninstalling Logic Studio

Hi Everyone,

I am upgrading to a faster Mac that I use for recording. I will give the current (slower) Mac to my spouse. I need to uninstall Logic from the curent machine and install it on the new one. How do I do the best uninstall? I know you are normally suppose to drag to app to the trash, but I understand that that doesn't clean everything up. I had installed all of the options and plugins for Logic so it is using up tons of disk space. I want to make sure I get it back.

Also, I have spent some time configuing Logic for my current I/O devices. Is there a way to copy this information to the new machine so I don't have to reconfigure everything again?

Thanks,

Kory

The best way to get everything from one Mac to another would be the Migration Assisant found in Utilities, or if you have been using time machine on an external drive you could restore the newer Mac to the time machine backup of the older one, both methods should include all the Logic Studio stuff as well as everything else you mite want to bring with you.

In terms of uninstalling, and cleaning up ur HD of all the leftover files, Go into your HD>Library>Application Support>Logic and the bulk of Logic's files are stored in there including the mainstage stuff. Similarly in the application support folder there should be folders for waveburner and soundtrack pro, i gather youd want to get rid of those as well. Thers also Logic Node which i believe is just an app that you can drag from the applications folder to the trash. The only files left should be any projects that you saved outside of the 'Logic' folder, a simple way to find some of these would be to put 'Logic' into the spotlight search, see what it finds.
