updating OD from Snow Leopard to Maverick

Hi all,

I am trying to update our Open Directory Snow Leopard Server to Maver Server.

According to this document:

I am doing everything right. I install Mavericks first, then I install Server 3.0, but before it finishes it says an error occured, after opening the Server.app the Open Directory is off and then I can just restore it from Archive (which is not compatible) or make it as a replica (which is not compatible) or create a new OD but then all my users are missing. Whats wrong? 😟
