I have plenty of space on icloud for ipad backup but I keep getting message cannot backup due to insufficient space.

I have plenty of free space on my iCloud account to back up my iPad but I keep getting a message cannot backup because insufficient space. How can I fix this?

iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iOS 7.0.4
