How are you trying to tranfer it? Albums purchased are transferred from the music library via the sync process. After connecting the device to iTunes, select it, then check the Music tab, see what music settings you have on, i.e. sync all music, sync only checked music, and click either Apply or Sync.

when my itunes is connected, my iphone appears however when i go to my devices my ipod only appears. it seems like i have to add my iphone as a device so i can transfer the songs there?
