iPad has malfunctioned message on laptop

My ipad was connecting fine to my laptop with iTunes, I connected it to sync music and it showed as connected but music didn't transfer, I tried again but it then it said device has malfunctioned and it wont show at all on any computer or iTunes..it will charge and tests I have done show it is connecting. I thought it was my laptop but connecting it to another laptop says the same thing..please help?
