Pro Res Prep to Work in FCP 7

I have a new project where the client has compressed MP4 files and not recognized in FCP 7; not off an SD card but a hard drive. they are 1080 HD, but unsure if 1080p or 1080i. Regarding ProRes, is there a specific setting I should pick, or should I go for the HQ option? Or will LT do the trick? Thanks.
