Q: Is it possible to autostart iadproducer widgets in ibookauthor?

I am writing an ibook and would love some automated characters walking over the pages so words are still visable. Does anyone have any best practices for this? Here is what I have tried:

  • I cannot get this working with video widget and alphachanel, as the background is always black. I can screencopy the page into the video for this to work, but now how do i start the video. Getting the user to keep clicking  to start and stop ruins the effect of a seemless character playing within the book.
  • NExt i tried just using multiple images and action lists for the movement. Again starting this is not fluid, user has to click to activate widget. And again the page dissapears behind the active widget even with the alpha channel on the image, so i need to do a screenshot of the words on the page for the widget background again.

So bottom line is i do not really like any of my two methods without somehow automating the start of a widget when an ibook page is selected.

I appreciate any help you can give me including other ideas or other software to create the widgets if that is an option.

Regards

Kelly

iBooks Author imposes strict rules on all HTML widgets, regardless of the creation tool. These include:

    • The widget always runs full-screen, obscuring existing page text.
    • Content, particularly video, can not be started without user interaction.
    • The widget can only be closed by the user via the close button in the top-left.

So, as it exists today, iBooks Author prevents the kind of effect you want to implement.
