New iPod Dock - OLD iPod. WHY DOES NO ADAPTER EXIST.

I'm buying a new iPod dock for my brother for Christmas. He has an old ipod. WHY are there no adapters for this? They all go the wrong way. I need a MALE 30 pin and a FEMALE lightning. HELP. It's ridiculous that this is so difficult to find. Totally fed up. Apple is behind the times for not offering this. Unless you do, and you've hidden it??
