There is no MEID # on GSM phones. I don't think the AT&T iPhone is compatible on Virgin.

Some carriers use a CDMA network with MEIDs while others use a GSM network with IMEIs. So, you'd need to get a different model of iPhone, they aren't all going to work with all carriers.

I just checked the Virgin Mobile page and it talks about all of the numbers being interchangable, which they are not. No where on the page could I even find if they are GSM or CDMA, and no where did it mention anything about BYOD, or bring your own device. You may need to call their customer service number to see if you can use that unlocked AT&T phone.

Was just able to read a little further into their FAQs and find that it connects using the Sprint network. The AT&T phone will not work, it is a CDMA network.

Virgin Mobile USA uses Sprint as the carrier.  3G will be CDMA based on Virgin Moble USA.  I do not know about LTE standards, but the iPhone 4 and 4s do not support LTE, so they will be CDMA 3G on Virgin Mobile USA.

Virgin Moble in other parts of the world (especailly Euorpe) will be GSM.

The OP could take their phone to T-Mobile, which are GSM, just like AT&T.  I understand the T-Mobile has some inexpensive plans.  Someone at work took their own Android phone to T-Mobile and got a $30 or $35/month plan.  You mileage may vary.

Thank you. I guess I was assuming that they were in the US, since it sounding like they had been using the phone via AT&T., Maybe they just purchased a phone that was locked to AT&T. As long as I have been doing this, you think I would learn not to "assume".
