Redeeming a MacBook Pro operating system purchase using a PC or iPhone

I am trying to reload a MacBook Pro using Mountain Lion purchased through the Mac App Store. However, I am having no luck in redeeming it to my account as I am not yet using the Mac but instead trying to use either am iPhone or PC and it just does not seem to work. Any ideas? Am I ivermectin looking something obvious? Cheers!
