Unfortunately, Apple support community is filled with trolls who are spreading misinformation just for the lulz, I suppose.

If the logic board physically fits, it will work. Limited options for upgrading a C2D MBA, but starting with the i5s, it's all swapable. 2011 to 2013, etc is all relatively easy to do. There are threads around the internet of people sharing success swaps.

Apple support community just isn't about helping fellow Mac users, it's about telling you that you that your only choice is to buy a new computer. Trolls gonna troll.

I want to know more about it. 😮

The macbook Air is not a computer for or designed to be upgraded.

Fixed of course, battery replaced yes, since its a consumable.

But RAM is permanent, and there are no "swapping parts" between machines.

Days of opening machines (re: notebooks and laptops) and swapping parts, or upgrading ABC XYZ is mostly entirely at an end.

😊

I just plan do so. However, you may notied that case with kayboard have a bit different between 2012 and 2013.

And, 2011's i/o board has different than 2012 which is support USB 3.0. ( also the cable linked)

I'm not sure the 2012 HDD interface also different with 2012. but 2013 is really different: Sata - Pcie.

thanks Kfred84, this makes my day! Looking at the architecture of the logic board 2012 and 2013 it's practically the same. with the only difference that I need a different heatsink and flex ribbon. My MBA' s logic board most likely died and I'm I see the only solution as to do a reflow on the board, but since it's less than 50% of working chance, I want to give it a shot to upgrade.

Yes, people tend to troll, let tinkerers be tinkerers. I upgraded my iMac 2009 from 4850 to 5750 ( that 6970 is so expensive to import to europe ) and upgraded the CPU. Just a bit of research and you're off
