Q: Inbox deletes my mail

My inbox deletes my mail after one or two days. It's set to hold 1000 emails before it deletes, but it's not listening! I keep losing my Christmas orders. I've gone to the trash to see mail i need & now it's not even there anymore!! I'm very frustrated.

iPad, iOS 7.0.4, 2nd gen

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Tap mail account name > Mail days to sync > change to a longer time period
