Hello there. What program is there to configure starup items for OSX? I know you can do it in System Prefs under users, but I thought that was only for Applications. Say I want a certain folder to open at starup, and I also want to connect to a server each time I starup. Is that already built into OSX or is there another program that can do it.

You can use System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items for Applications, folders, or files. You don't have to use third-party software to open folders or files at startup.

Does the same hold true for connecting to a server? Say I have an alias to a server on my desktop that brings up the Connection Dialog box where you enter all the username and password and stuff. If I were to put that alias in starup items, would that dialog box come up at startup? Thanks
This is what I did to test it: I mounted a shared volume from a networked machine. I added the mounted volume on my Desktop to Login Items. I rebooted my Mac, and it prompted me for the user/pass for the network share.
