It isn't as if they Apple issued Boot Camp 3.0 way too early before Windows 7 was RTM, and 3.1 came in December as part of Snow Leopard that was rushed out in Aug/Sept 2009.
It isn't as if 8.1 was kept a secret like a recent singers new album. It has been out there for months. It runs better and IE11 has been excellent.
Even 8.0 DP was out there for months, a year of public dev and betas - and many used or tried to with varying success.

It is a technical problem for people who need to run Windows and see Windows on Mac as Boot Camp Assistant offers and cannot use a VM like new Fusion 6.x or Parallels 9 that offer 8.1 support now. Some of us use both native dual boot for Windows and a VM of same install.
