Q: Can't add printer since Mavericks update

I updated my MBP & MBA to Mavericks recently and all seemed well...until I tried to print to my Canon MP990. I couldn't. So I removed the printer that has been there and usable from Mountain Lion. This is my home printer and has been working fine up until the update. Now when I try to install it I get the following:

"Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."

I've downloaded the drivers from the Canon. Same problem. I found the printer update software from Apple & installed it. Same problem. I've connected via USB, printer's built in WiFi & direct connect to my Airport Extreme. Nothing seems to be working. I thought maybe servers were down so I waited a couple of days and tried again. Still no luck.

Anyone know what the problem is or how to fix? Thank you!
