Q: Can't add printer since Mavericks update

You've installed a lot of stuff. But it isn't clear to me where printing is failing. Can you add the printer in Print & Scan preferences? More specific, please.

Try Reset Printing System, then re-add the printer in prefs.

If Greg's post doesn't help, try deleting the /Library/Printers/Canon folder, restarting, and installing the updates again.

I'm having the same problem and I though maybe it's a server-side problem so I waited...

I'm unable to reinstalled removed printers, I thought maybe there were some residual files preventing me to do this but then a drive on one of my Macs failed and I installed Mavericks from a USB flash drive then I tried installing the network printers (one on a Time Capsule, the other a regular ethernet-attached printer) and both give me the same problem.

Windows and Linux computers can still install and reinstall these printers but Macs rely on the software being downloaded from Apple every time they are installed.

What's even more fristrating is that when installing them, a notice appears saying there's software available from Apple for that printer.

Had same mysterious software update driver issue on my Canon IX5000 that up till yesterday had been working perfectly. Really exasperating. But this worked for me. Thanks John.
