connecting ipod shuffle to stereo system - help!

Just bought a new Ipod Shuffle - got my play list on the shuffle but now can't play it on my stereo system. A previous comment indicated if I connected it to my stereo via ear phone it would work - only question - if my earphone is plugged into my ipod shuffle - how then do I connect it to my stereo system? Is there a different set of earphone that I need?

The shuffle only has one audio output, and that is the headphones jack. If your stereo system has an auxiliary audio input connection, you need to connect the shuffle's headphones jack (not the headphones) to that input on the stereo system.

If the input looks like shuffle's headphones jack, you need a cable like this

NOTE: Make sure the connection point is an audio INPUT. If it's an output (like a place to connect headphones to the stereo system) and you connect the shuffle's output to it, that will not work (and it may cause damage).

If the input is something else, such as a pair of red/white RCA connectors, you need a cable that converts from the headphones plug to the input connection type. Such cables are available at electronics stores like Radio Shack.
