    Empty the Trash.

Delete or archive files.  To delete, drag to the trash and empty the trash.  To archive, buy an external hard drive and copy files to it, then delete the ones on the computer.

Media files tend to collect and are big, especially movies.  Apple is promoting digital media but new SSD drives just cannot accommodate many files.  If you have bought items from the iTunes Store and your country allows repeat downloads you can delete those files and download them again.  I do not recommend this as a long-term solution because if a distributor pulls an item from the store you will not be able to download it again, even if you have purchased it.

    One movie = 200 music files = 500 photographs.
