Hello all! I need to re-create Stephen Hawkings
voice. Does anyone have any Logic settings or tips
on the best way to do this? Is there a text to
speech program for Mac that possibly has a setting
for Dr. Hawking? Seems like that would be a cool
option to put in that kind of software. I use Logic
and have been experimenting with an audio file and
just process it.
I dont think what your looking for is
actually
Professor Hawkings voice. I have heard what I
think you are talking about when he would
"speak" at a public gathering. The voice, I
believe came from the computer he used.
I am pretty sure that it must have been at
least related to a Mac in some way because it
was the one of the voices that came with my
Mac.Back in the days of my first and second
Macs with OS7,8 and 9, Text to Speech did
(and still does) comes standard. The voices
have been modified slightly since then but
I believe it is "Fred's" voice you are looking
for. I had checked out all the voices on my
first computer and was suprised when I
heard the first time the professor "spoke",
I thought, wow, he must be using a Mac.
Freds voice has changed since then but it
is still pretty close to the original. Under
the Speech Preferences, click on Text to
Speech. There you will find a list with
Fred on it. Text Edit has a menu
command to speak any selected (or
all if none is selected) text.If you can
get your hands on an OS9 computer,
it might have the original voice which
is what I think you are looking for.
