Problems signing into Apple ID-nothing happens

My dad's email was hacked recently so he changed the email associated with his Apple account. He was able to change his log in on his iPad without any problems but nothing I've tried will work for his iPhone (4s; iOs 7.0.4). I've gone to the iTunes & Apps tab under Settings to log into a new account, but nothing will happen. I've entered his information-and tried my own account once- but after cliking "sign in" it loads for a bit, the info is grayed out like it's loading, but after a few seconds it just stops and won't sign in. I've tried resetting as well as a hard reset, I've closed all the apps running in the background, I went to downlaod an app to see if it worked after all, but it still prompts a sign in with his old email, and wont accept the password. Any ideas why this is happening/how I can fix it?

Hi rguffey333,

Welcome to the Support Communities!

You may have tried some, but not all, of the steps provided in these articles. Is your Dad able to sign into the iTunes Store from a computer with his revised Apple ID?

Apple ID: What to do after you change your Apple ID

iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iTunes App Store.

  • If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in.
  • If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID, tap your previous Apple ID and tap Sign Out. Then enter your current Apple ID to sign in.

Cheers,

Hi rguffey333,

You said your Dad was able to login to his account from his iPad. Did you try downloading a free app to see if the process completes? If you've confirmed that the issue is not with the iTunes Store account, then you may need to follow the steps below:

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430

If that does not resolve the issue, refer to page 146 in the iPhone User Guide to Reset All Settings:

iPhone User Guide for iOS 7

manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

The final troubleshooting step would be to restore your device:

iTunes: Restoring iOS software

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414

Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition. Before restoring:

Cheers,

Judy
