How do I save photos stuck in the cloud to my computer?

About a month ago I accidentally threw my phone in the wash, killing it. When I bought my new phone the guy failed to mention that I could restore everything back to what it was and by the time I discovered I could, I'd already gotten myself knee deep into my new phone. I had a lot of senitmental pictures on there that I'd like to get back, out of the cloud and onto my Mac. I've just spent seriously 5 hours trying to update this **** thing and now I'm still lost trying to get that content saved to the computer so that I can delete it and stop getting the reminder that my cloud is full. Is it completely lost and do I have to just delete it to make more room?

Also, complete side note, but I HATE that my scroll is inversed where if I want to scroll down a page I have to push up on my touch pad. Can I undo that too??

current Mavericks and iPhoto

Perhaps I wasn't clear. I'm trying to get the stuff from the cloud and onto my computer. I don't want to restore my phone bc I've had it for a month. I only want the pictures from the cloud so I can save them to my computer.

I thought updating iPhoto was a must all that did was erase my old iPhoto content and lock me out of it until I created a new folder. God only knows where the old pictures are.

The only way to recover your camera roll photos from an iCloud backup is to restore the backup to your phone. What you can do is back up your phone to your computer using iTunes, then restore the backup and save the recovered photos, then restore the backup you made on your computer to get back to where you are now. To do this, do the following:

  1. Connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Tranfer Purchases. When this finishes click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now.
  2. Eject your phone from iTunes and disconnect it from your computer. Go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup and follow the prompts, choosing the backup of your old phone to restore to. Be sure it is connected to wifi and your charger as it is restoring the backup.
  3. When the backup finishes, import the recovered camera roll photos to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
  4. Connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes and click Restore Backup, choosing the backup you made at step 1 to restore from. This should return your phone to it's current state.
  5. If you want the photos you recovered on your phone, put them in an event in iPhoto, then select the event to sync to your phone on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync your phone.

You can't change the scrolling behavior of your phone. In time it will seem natural.
