2004 Honda Civic LX + Factory CD Player + iPod?

I have a 5th gen. iPod, and want to hook it up to my 2004 Honda Civic (with a factory CD player) without using a FM transmitter. Any thoughts?

There are a number of FM transmitters that work just fine. Why are you opposed to using one?

The other option would be something like this:

(Although I'm sure you could find something like this less expensive elsewhere)

Memphis is a big city with dozens of radio stations - the interference is really a big issue.

I've got a 2005 Civic and they were able to hook into my factory stereo so I can just plug my ipod into a headphone jack. Did your Civic have a multi-disk cd player option? If so, there's an auxiliary port on the back of the stereo you can plug into. I've heard bad things about fm transmitters.

Unless you have a aux input on the front of your current head unit (which you could connect to your ipod via the 3.5mm headphone socket), you'll have to swap out your head unit. There are plenty on the market which will hook straight up and allow remote control of your ipod via the head.

After some Googling, I found some boxes that go from the aux. input on the headunit to an iPod cable.
