im getting invalid key when entering on windows, can anyone help

Call Microsoft at their activation number. Is the number included in he error message? If not, go to the Microsoft site.

Which version of Windows?

A fresh install of Windows 8.1 needs a generic key to install then a Windows 8 key to activate.
