restore calendars & events

I'm on 10.8.5 Mountain Lion and I need to restore all my calendars from an external back up drive. I DID NOT back up using Time Machine, so I cannot use it to restore, is that correct?

I tried importing from .ics files, but it only let's me import one event at a time. Is there a way to update all at once?
