Hi Lima6,

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.

If the volume button on your iPhone is not working, I recommend first restarting and then resetting the phone:

Restarting your device
  1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
  2. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.

Resetting your device

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

You can find the full article with these steps here:

If the issue persists, next try backing up and restoring your iPhone:

I tried all of this nonsense (LOL), but in most cases, it's not the iOS,...it's a physical misalignment issue...

Try holding the "VOLUME DOWN" button down and rotating it around in a circular motion...It takes applying some pressure, but it fixed mine right away when nothing else would work! Try it, it only takes about 3 seconds....(Just don't hold me responsible if you are incredibly strong and you crush your device)

WOO HOO....HAPPY CAMPER!
