So I've been trying to use my quicktime player but for some reason it does not want to work. I am currently working on a MacBook Pro 10.6.8. I don't know if it helps to figure out the problem but the Icon of the quicktime player has changed into a paper with a pencil and brush crossed together forming an 'A'. I don't understand why this is happening. Please help me figure out how to fix this problem.

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)

I have quicktime version 10.0. I've tried downloading the quicktime player 7 but it doesn't work either.
Quicktime player 7 works on the computer but I am not able to do a screen recording which I also need.

That's too bad. Well, thank you for your help. Althought I do still need help to figure out why my quicktime isn't working on me even though it was installed into my computer when it was purchased. It is a quicktime version 10 but the icon looks so different with the white paper and pencil and brush forming an A at the bottom right corner. It is quite strange.
Repair permissions and restart your computer.
