Q: My Macbook pro won't connect to my new apple tv??

I have just bought a Apple Tv. I have linked it up and updated the firmware.

I can mirror my iphone and ipad but can't get my Macbook to link up.

I'm running Mavericks, up to date and have no airplay icon on my screen. Really get annoyed now!!

READ the article from which the question was posted and follow the troubleshooting steps provided.
Ensure that iTunes is allowed in the firewall, or temporarily disable the firewall.
Try turning off IPV6 on the Mac, some users have reported this causing problems.

I have turned off my firewall. I have got no further. My Macbook doesn't acknowledge the Apple TV!!!!
NOW VERY ANNOYED
