Replacement Hard Disk - Seagate Baraccuda SATA 7200RPM?

I wish to replace the OEM 160GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA hard hard drive in my iMac PPC G5 with the Seagate Barracuda drive below. My drive seems to be making more noise with time and I need more space anyway.

Can anyone with experience changing hard drives confirm that it will fit in the iMac PPC G5 model M9250?

Yes, it will fit. Any 3.5 " SATA drive will work.

The Barracuda drive description says "3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive". Does the "bare" mean it does not have a protective cover? If so, do we remove the cover from the current drive and put it on the new one?

Bare means it is just a drive, no enclosure.

Forgive my lack of knowledge on the inners of the iMac, but doesn't the bare drive need to be enclosed in something when inside the iMac? Pictures, like the ones in the link below, make it seem like it has an aluminium cover of some sort.

They are sealed in a case, if that's what you mean. Not a cover in the sense you may be thinking. That's what you are looking at in the image. That's how the drive comes as a bare drive.
