Is there a keyboard shortcut to delete files without the need to use the mouse in OS X Mavericks?

Actually the correct answer is: CMD-Delete to delete chosen file. Then CMD-D in the confirmation box.

Not exactly........
Cmd-Delete deletes a selected file without a mouse.
What you want, I think, is a way to select the file (presumably in Finder) without a mouse so that it can be deleted.
If you open a new Finder window - Cmd-N you can navigate with the up/down arrow keys as you navigate a file is selected , once selected it can be deleted with cmd-delete.
If while navigateing with the up/dpwn arrow keys you encounter a folder you can delete the folder with cmd-delete or open the folder with the right arrow and proceed to naviagte and delete.

What I really want is this.
When I want to delete a file from an external hard disk the small box asks me if I'm sure to delete this file?
Then I have to grab the mouse and click the yes button.
I don't want to do that.
If the YES button is highlighted then Enter should work as a response of 'yes'.
Otherwise I suspect the you can toggle the choice with the right arrow key and the hit Enter.
I'm not sure "who" is asking you about the delete.
I found it. I needed to hit the tab key and hit space. Not enter! And btw arrows do not work. Cheers everyone.
