What is going on the my battery life, after installing Mavericks, what a drain!!!
They just released 10.9.1 - see if it helps!
Thx for the help, but this did not solve the issue. 10.9.1 is installed; this morning i started with 100% battery and in 20 min of usage i dropped about 2 hrs in battery run time or from 100% to 84%. Seems like the fan is running alot more now than before the installation of Mavericks.
Start with a SMC reset:

Ciao.
If there is no improvement, open Activity Monitor to ALL PROCESSES and set CPU to display values from high to low.
Post an image for inspection.

You can try resetting the SMC and NVRAM.

You can also try running the short and/or extended Apple hardware test by holding D button while booting up and then following the instructions.

If that doesn't work (seems not extremely likely that it will) you can backup and try reinstalling a fresh OS.
If that still doesn't work maybe the battery is bad. If you don't feel like messing with all that just take it to Apple. They should have a test they can perform.
